The new Clump Point boating facility will support the Mission Beach community by assisting the re-establishment of a reef-based tourist market and provide improved recreational boating facilities.
Denso SeaShield™ Series 2000FD system was selected on this Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) project to provide corrosion protection on 34 new 610mm OD piles that form part of the access jetty and pontoon gangways.
In all, 114 jackets have been installed over a vertical coverage of 4.62m per pile. The initial shipment of piles were pre-wrapped with Denso Marine Piling Tape prior to being transported to site and protected with Denso PVC SA Outerwrap. The remainder of piles were conventionally wrapped on site following installation.
Jackets were manufactured in two batches to enable the principal contractor, the Jetty Specialist, to manage installation with limited storage space on site.
Working closely with the project management team, Denso Australia ensured close communication and coordination so that the manufacture of jackets met project scheduling milestones.
Application was undertaken by certified and trained personnel using a specially constructed vessel.
This State-funded development will provide improved boating infrastructure, facilitate local economic development and enable joint commercial and recreational usage whilst respecting the rich natural environment and cultural heritage of Mission Beach. Denso are proud to play our part in the long term protection of this community asset.
