National Australian Pipelines were engaged by APA Group for the realignment of some 300 lineal meters of DN300 3LPE coated gas main.
The pipeline was installed by horizontal directional drilling (HDD) due to the location of the pipeline being in one of the busiest intersections in Melbourne (Flemington Rd and Royal Pde) beside the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkvillle, navigating existing below-ground services, roads and tram ways.
Denso Premier Shrink Sleeve 80ST™ was selected for the corrosion protection of the field joints and an additional layer of Denso Bore-Wrap® was applied over the top of each field joint to ensure the strain of the HDD process did not interfere with the underlying corrosion barrier.
300 lineal meters of DN300 pipeline was installed late in the evening via HDD along Flemington Rd, under the Haymarket Roundabout flag and into Pelham St avoiding any existing infrastructure and any compromises to the protective coating system.
