Denso SeaShield Series 2000FD™ was selected as the preferred corrosion prevention system to protect and prolong the $2.25million upgrade to the Seisia Jetty – the northernmost jetty on the Australian mainland.
The Jetty itself provides the community with shipping and ferry services as well as a prime fishing spot.
The work involved cleaning and repair of degraded pile sections on the jetty structure and adjacent berthing dolphins. Denso SeaShield Series 2000FD™ was then applied to 27 610mm OD piles on the Jetty head and stem to provide additional protection to the repaired piles.
The superior hoop tension provided by the 2000FD™ system means that the primer and marine petrolatum tape beneath each jacket are fully compressed, forming excellent contact with the pile surface which in turn means prolonged corrosion protection against the elements.
As a result of the upgrade, the community of Seisia will be able to rely on the continued operation of this regionally critical asset.
