The City of Canning engaged with the selected contractor to refurbish the Shelley Beach Park Recreational Jetty.
The refurbishment consisted of abrasive blasting and painting of the steel members, replacement of all timber decking and handrails, and the surface preparation and long term protection of the RHS Steel Piles.
The abrasive blasting and pile protection was undertaken by Franmarine Diving.
In total, 14 piles were protected with the Denso SeaShield 80 System™ comprising of SeaShield Primer, Denso Marine Piling Tape and Densopol 60 reinforced bitumen tape comprising a polymer adhesive compound backed with a high impact PVC.
The Shelley Beach Jetty and park is an important community asset with its river and city skyline views. The destination hosts a number of year-round events such as the Blessing of the river, Australia Day Celebrations and New Year’s Eve fireworks.
